Founded in 1999 by home-educating families, the Isle of Wight Learning Zone was created to provide a supportive and social network for families choosing to educate their children at home. Drawing on the Island’s rich resources, historical sites, and special events, our community experiences diverse opportunities for learning beyond the classroom.
We are a member-led charity—run by members, for members. The Learning Zone is its community: our members take an active role in shaping the group, organising events, arranging social gatherings, and sharing their knowledge and passions. Everyone is encouraged to contribute, helping to create a vibrant, supportive network for home-educating families across the Island.
As a registered charity, we’re also able to apply for funding to support our activities and provide resources for home-educating families across the Island.
We meet regularly to plan, connect, and inspire one another—whether it’s coordinating large-scale projects or simply enjoying a playdate and a chat over a cuppa.
There’s always something to do and someone to do it with!
